Developing a Relationship with Jesus

Our Eucharistic adoration program for kids is launching soon. This adoration for children club teaches kids how to pray before the Blessed Sacrament with weekly 15 minute meditations from saints devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Each lesson includes catechesis about the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, as well as the virtues. This is a two-year curriculum, and each year includes 37 weeks of Eucharistic adoration meditations for kids ages 9-14.

Catholic adults who frequent Eucharistic adoration know that to be a good friend to our Lord we need to talk and listen to Him every day. Over the years many of us have really tried hard to get to know Him, and most importantly, we have grown to love Jesus very deeply through Eucharistic adoration.

Jesus is a hidden God. This is why we need time in silence to pray. The Sacred Heart’s Club is designed to help kids learn how to know and love Jesus through a Eucharistic adoration program designed specifically for kids. This program will teach them important basics, like remembering to always receive Jesus in the Eucharist with great reverence and love at the Mass, and prayerful ways to enter and exit Eucharistic adoration chapels. We will teach them about encountering the Real Presence of Jesus Christ inside the monstrance, how the Host has been consecrated by the priest in the same way it is at holy Communion.

But our club will also go beyond the basics. We want to take the kids on a journey of discipleship by introducing them to habitual prayer before Jesus and real friendship with Him.

Jesus gives very special graces to all those who visit Him in adoration, especially those He calls friends of His Eucharistic Sacred Heart.

Eucharistic Adoration for Youth

Our adoration for kids club teaches children about several saints who were known for their devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and spent much of their lives, including their youths, in Eucharistic adoration. Kids can and should spend time before Jesus in Eucharistic adoration. They will grow in faith, hope, and charity. Their time before Jesus will help them grow in virtue. We can help promote Eucharistic adoration for youth through giving them a supplemental catechesis that helps them understand meditative and contemplative prayer. We know they are capable of this because many great saints of the church found their love of Jesus in the Eucharist at a young age.

Explaining Eucharistic Adoration to Youth

The best way to teach a child how to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is through both an understanding of this form of prayer as well as experience in practicing it. We learn best by doing, and we also come to understand things through personal experience much better then if we were to be told about it. The same is true for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our club offers adults the resources they need for explaining Eucharistic adoration to youth. With our Eucharistic adoration program kids will have opportunities to habitually practice this beautiful form of prayer so that they can develop a deep and meaningful relationship with Jesus.

A Message to Kids about Going to Adoration

Going to adoration is a peaceful experience.  Many people go to sit and talk to Jesus about their troubles, but that is only a small part of Eucharistic adoration. Our adoration for kids club wants to help teach children how to pray when going to adoration so that they can learn how to hear God’s voice and learn how to love Jesus in return. One of the ways we do this is through weekly meditations that include very short writings from the saints and verses from the Bible.

Adoration is a place to love God while being in the Real Presence of Jesus.  Jesus IS present with you in the Monstrance whether you believe it or not!  If you are going into adoration with a hard heart and aren’t feeling open to praying and adoring, be honest with God.  He knows all things so you have nothing to hide. You can ask Him to help you to pray and to open your heart.  Going to adoration will draw you closer to God, and make your life better in so many ways.
